Write an impassioned appeal to the mayor of Provo that we need to implement one of these laws:
1. In New York, the penalty for jumping off a building is: Death.
2. In Danville, Pennsylvania, all fire hydrants must be checked one hour before all fires.
3. In Pennsylvania, it’s against the law to tie a dollar bill on a string on the ground and pull it away when someone tries to pick it up.
4. In New York City, it’s illegal for a restaurant to call a sandwich a “corned beef sandwich” if it’s made with white bread and mayonnaise.
5. In California it is illegal to set a mouse trap without a hunting license.
6. In France, it is against the law to sell an “E.T” doll. They have a law forbidding the sale of dolls that do not have human faces.
7. In Massachusetts, it is illegal to go to bed without first having a bath. (However, another law prohibits bathing on Sunday)

response week 1
Two parts to this response:
(a) Recount your own intellectual history. You may choose to answer such questions as: How did you choose your major? What classes did you love in high school? Who were your most influential teachers and why? What habits of the mind did your family teach you?
then...
(b) Make a plan for carrying out one of the Richard Light goals. Ex: if you want to focus on time management, are you going to buy and use a planner? get to bed early? set aside time for weekly planning sessions?
What challenges and rewards might this goal yield?
